While Facebook’s Find WiFi mobile app feature was first spotted in the wild back in November, it seems to have been rolled out to more people over the past couple of weeks. The new tool allows users to see locations of free and public wifi hotspots they can connect to on a map, which could really come in handy if you’re traveling.
The addition is one of many Facebook has added to its mobile app menu (which is getting pretty long). The social media giant has been testing and adding a handful of other recent features including city guides, fundraisers, and weather.
“To help people stay connected to the friends and experiences they care about, we are rolling out a new feature that surfaces open Wi-Fi networks associated with nearby places,” a Facebook spokesperson told VentureBeat.

Where to find it
The Find WiFi feature is located in the hamburger menu in the mobile app. If you have it, you can turn the setting on and the app will detect nearby places with an access point.
If you don’t already have your Facebook app’s location settings set to “Always,” you’ll need to make that change for the feature to work.
You can also look at available locations on a list, in addition to the map.
Also note that while public WiFi is always a welcome addition, it’s important to protect yourself and data when accessing a public network.
